The Tigmi Signature Rug Collection brings together our original rug designs, developed in Australia and made by skilled artisans in India and Nepal. Yes. We offer free shipping on rugs Australia-wide. For international orders, shipping is calculated at checkout based on your delivery location.

How do I choose the right rug size for my space?

The right rug should feel generous enough to anchor the furniture around it, rather than floating within the room. In a living space, we generally recommend choosing a rug large enough to sit beneath at least the front legs of your furniture, while dining rugs should extend comfortably beyond the table and chairs. Can I see or feel a rug before purchasing?

Yes. Many of our rugs can be viewed at our Byron Bay showroom, and samples are available on request for selected designs. What rug material is best for my space?

The right material depends on where the rug will live, how the space is used and the feeling you want to create. Wool is an enduring choice for everyday living, valued for its softness, resilience and natural ability to withstand wear. Cashmere offers an exceptionally soft, luxurious handle, but is also surprisingly hardy, making it a beautiful choice for spaces where comfort and longevity are equally important. Jute and other natural plant fibres bring texture and an earthier quality, while silk and silk blends have a finer feel and subtle lustre that responds beautifully to light. What is the difference between hand-knotted and handwoven rugs?

Hand-knotted rugs are individually knotted by hand, creating a dense and highly durable construction that can take months to complete. Handwoven rugs are created by weaving fibres together on a loom and can vary considerably in texture and construction. Both techniques carry the marks of the maker, with subtle variations that are part of the character of a handmade rug.

Do I need a rug underlay?

We recommend using an underlay with every rug. Beyond helping to keep your rug securely in place, a good underlay provides additional cushioning and reduces movement and friction between the rug and floor, helping to protect the rug and extend its life.

Are handmade rugs perfectly uniform?

No — and this is part of what makes them unique. Variations in weave, colour, texture and dimensions are natural characteristics of rugs made by hand, reflecting the materials and processes used by the artisan rather than a manufacturing fault.

Can I order custom pieces or do you have customisable options?

Yes. Custom sizing is available across many of our contemporary rug collections, while selected furniture and Tigmi-designed pieces are available with customisable fabrics or other options. Availability varies by product, so contact our team to discuss your requirements.
