All international shipping is calculated in Australia dollars and does not include import duty which will be county-specific and based on delivery address. Please check your country’s customs rates before purchasing.
A large portion of our items are unique one-off vintage pieces and as signs of usage must be expected. We believe that this wear and imperfections add to the beauty, character and story of the piece!
We will endeavour to provide all the information we can about condition of the piece you have chosen so you can feel confident with your purchase. However, we do want you to be delighted with your choice, so if you are not completely happy, you may return it to us within 14 days of purchase- provided that it is returned in its original condition.
In order to return an item, please contact us by email: email@example.com within 7 days of your purchase. We are unable to refund any shipping fees incurred for returned items.
We do not accept returns on sale items.
All product images are taken in natural daylight to ensure the colour portrayed on-screen is a true to life as possible. Items may change in appearance when placed in different or artificial lighting situations. If you would like to see an item in alternative lighting please email us for images.
Whilst we ensure all our pieces arrive in excellent condition, many of our products are one off vintage carpets and small signs of wear are to be expected.
For good maintenance of the carpet it is advisable to vacuum regularly. In the case of a stain it is best to try and remove it with a moist towel of warm water immediately instead of letting the stain dry. Lift as much as possible without rubbing. Always check for colour fastness prior. Wool is also self-cleaning and if you have the possibility to hang or lay the carpet out in a fresh breeze occasionally, odors will disappear.
Professional cleaning should only be done off-site’ - avoid in-house’ services. We advise for a proper clean to consult a trained professional in a controlled environment.
It is important to rotate your rug 180 degrees every 1-2 years to ensure an even wear.
Vacuuming & or shaking out the rug regularly slows down the ageing process.
Rugs can shed a bit of fluff, which is just excess fibres that were not properly incorporated into the yarn during spinning. This is normal, and is not a sign that your rug is falling apart! It is best to vacuum a rug often at first - after some time the fluffing will lessen and eventually cease.

I see this piece has sold out – when will you be getting more?
All of our rugs (and most of our cushions) are one-off pieces that we have carefully chosen for their unique character, so once sold we cannot re-order the exact same pieces again.
Do you have this rug in a different size?
All of our rugs are one-of-a-kind pieces so it is impossible to get the exact same piece in a different size.
Can you get this vintage style in a larger size?
You will find that most of our vintage pieces are 2m wide or less because the looms they were made on had to be transported by hand. If you seek a larger rug, our contemporary pieces are made using traditional techniques on larger looms designed for modern living spaces. Alternatively our vintage Turkish Oushaks were also sometimes made on larger looms.
Are they new or used?
We have a mixture of vintage (used) pieces as well as contemporary (new). Our vintage items are professionally cleaned and repaired (if needed) but some sign of usage is to be expected. We believe the imperfections add to the beauty, character and story of each piece.
What are your rugs made from?
While the materials vary between each style of rug, all are made with natural and sustainable materials including (but not limited to) hemp, wool, cotton and cane. Most of our pieces are made from the finest quality wool which is an extremely durable and resilient material with balancing thermal insulation properties – meaning it is warm in winter and cool in the summer. Wool is also hypoallergenic, absorbs harmful pollutants and is easy to clean.
How long do your rugs last?
Like most things, our pieces require regular maintenance in order to last as long as possible. This includes regular vacuuming, rotation and periodic professional cleaning. How long they ‘last’ does depend on whether they are vintage or contemporary but as they are made from premium, natural materials (not synthetic) they will easily outlast similar synthetic products ten-fold, if not more.

Can I try before I buy?
If you’re in the Byron region we are always happy for you to take a piece home to test it out in your space before making the big decision of buy. If you live elsewhere we offer a 7 day full return policy where you’ll only be out of pocket for shipping the piece back to us should it not work. We can also mockup the rug in your space if you want to send through images and dimensions.
Why do they cost so much/how do you price the rugs?
There are so many mass-produced and fake products on the market these days in terms of Berber/Moroccan rugs and homewares that comparatively our prices do fall on the more expensive side. This is because all of our pieces are genuine exports, they are made by hand by artisans with generations of skills, and each piece is individually sourced by us. As the demand for this style of homewares increases, the longer it takes for us to find the really special pieces. You can certainly buy a cheaper knock-off Beni Ourain style rug for example, but chances are you will need to replace it in a couple of years, adding to landfill. A genuine piece like the ones we source will most likely outlive you; a family heirloom!
Where are you based and how can I see your rugs?
We are based in the Byron Shire of Northern NSW. The Tigmi Trading Studio is in the newly developed Habitat Byron Bay precinct in North Beach at the top of the Arts and Industrial Estate open Mon-Fri 10-5 and Sat 10-3.
