A contemporary carpet handwoven in Morocco using traditional methods. Made from the finest quality wool, each strand was carefully and densely woven by hand on a loom and took four months to weave.
Incredibly soft and thick underfoot, the natural wool is woven in a checker pattern with a high, lush pile giving it incredible texture - the finish of this piece is both luxurious and durable and is a functional work of art that will be long lasting.
Known for their use of bolder colours (vintage) or subtle pattern to create texture (contemporary), the Beni M'Rirt tribe hails from the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco. We work to preserve the remarkable skills of the woman weavers by sourcing both vintage and contemporary pieces that continue to sustain the methods and techniques that have passed down from generations.

A piece from our Moroccan rug collection DAR YOUK: Dar meaning 'home' in Arabic and Youk meaning 'one' in Tamazight.
El Youk means 'the one' in Tamazight - it represents all the natural shades of wool woven in an irregular checkerboard pattern, and is made from all-natural, hand processed wool with minimal human and environmental impact.
It has been made by the hands of master weavers atop of the Ain Leuh Spring in the Atlas Mountains through a cooperative of women, where the action of weaving is part of a complex chain of ancient cultural practices.
DAR YOUK is symbolic of the Ain Leuh Cooperative, which serves as a second home for the weavers and ensures sustainable practices, fair and equitable payments for the female artisans, in turn supporting their families and communities.
Through the creation of DAR YOUK it was important for us to work closely with the weavers, who often we know little about, and to acknowledge and give reverence to the women who created this collection. They are: Nina Gilbert, Khadouj Ouchekak, Hjaou Ammraoui, El Hachima Douiri, Khadija El Aabdi, Fatima Abaraou, Mahma Bahoussem Rachia Ghenam & Fatima Balhoussaine.
