1950s Jomain Baumann Folding Screen
France, 1950s–1960s.
Designed by Jomain Baumann for S.N.S.A., this folding screen exemplifies the sculptural elegance of mid century French decorative design. Constructed using Baumann’s signature tambour technique, the piece is formed from slender pine slats linked by metal wire, allowing it to curve and fold with fluidity.
The softly undulating top edge introduces a playful architectural rhythm, while the warm patinated timber brings depth and character to the piece. Functional as both a room divider and freestanding interior element, the screen shifts effortlessly between form and utility.
