1980s French Upholstered Club Chair in the style of Jean Royere
Dating from the 1980s, this French club chair is defined by its generous, rounded form. With its deep barrel back, oversized upholstered arms and softly sculpted silhouette, the design reflects the distinctive aesthetic of celebrated French designer Jean Royère, whose playful, organic furniture became synonymous with post-war French design. Generous proportions and soft curves create a piece that is as comfortable as it is sculptural.
Recently upholstered in a textured ivory bouclé, the chair has a soft, tactile finish that complements its organic form. New dark-stained timber feet provide a subtle contrast, grounding the light upholstery while remaining sympathetic to the original design.
Whether placed as a standalone statement or as a pair, the chair brings warmth, softness and sculptural presence to contemporary, coastal and European-inspired interiors.
Presented in good vintage condition, the upholstery is beautifully maintained and exceptionally clean, while the newly fitted dark-stained timber feet complete the restoration.
