Created by Northern Rivers ceramic artists Mitch and Rebekah Parry of Pazzalotti, this hand-built vessel moves between functional object and expressive artwork. Its irregular, chalice-like form features a flared rim and sculptural foot, with richly textured glazes in deep blue, teal and violet.

Contrasting patches of pale, unglazed-looking ceramic interrupt the layered surface, bringing an unexpected softness to the bold colour and expressive form. Each angle reveals a different combination of texture, colour and hand-shaped detail.

DESIGN NOTES
Working from their Northern Rivers studio, husband-and-wife duo Mitch and Rebekah Parry create sculptural ceramics through an intuitive process of experimentation and play.

Each vessel is hand-built using layered clay forms, shaped, squeezed, scratched and dragged into place. Their approach is conversational, with ideas developing through making rather than following a fixed design. Subtle irregularities and the marks of the hand are embraced, allowing each piece to retain its individuality.

Richly layered glazes and unexpected forms bring a sense of movement and spontaneity to the finished work. No two pieces are alike.
