Designed by Alessandro Becchi, the Anfibio (amphibian) sofa is perhaps the precursor to the futon - it can be unfolded to easily transform into a soft double bed sheepskin mattress.
An icon of pop-art design and an emblem of modern Italian design.
Soft and voluminous in appearance, the inner structure of the sofa is a steel frame to allow for sturdy folding functionality. The upholstery material is joined by lacing through chromed eyes with a piped length of material, creating a cross-stitched design detail.
Internally, the mattress is covered on its top side with a short-piled cream, ecological lamb wool.
