Young Melody Boujad
A vintage Moroccan Boujad rug made in the 1970s, 'Young Melody' still has so much life left in him! A lovely ivory/cream medium pile with irregular diamond patterns in variations of taupe brown and orange. His statement is a beautiful Yves Klein Blue patch embroidered with naturally dyed fabric.
He is the only one like it - handwoven and one-of-a-kind.
Boujad carpets are named after the holy town of 'Budjad' in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco, where the carpets are made from many different tribes. These rugs are the said to be the most mystical of Moroccan rugs, and feature designs that reflect the whim of the weaver.
Boujad rugs are a really wonderful piece of 'folk' art that tell a tale of the lives for the women who make them.
