ATOMIC REVOLUTION: For the love of Retro Futurism crafted with a touch of Tiki interpreted in an organic Brutalist style. The graphic line elements from 'Aperture of Illusion' are repeated with echoes resonating around them. Each of these alters the shape, like a whisper mimicking the ever-changing nature of reality and illusion.
Exhibiting as a part of the Tigmi Art Series Group Ceramics Show, exclusive to Tigmi.
Jan Vogelpoel has donated a piece to the Clay For Community Raffle, supporting the Flood Relief fund in community-led flood relief across the Northern Rivers NSW. 100% of money donated to the Flood Relief Fund. Tickets $30 here.
About the artist: Combining a mid-century design aesthetic with a contemporary minimalist approach, Jan Vogelpeol's intuitive and fervent process produces ceramic sculptures that hold an etherial presence in any space, effortlessly reflecting connection, fluidity and strength. Each piece carries the energy of nature and the maker, and the characteristic raw finish of her work makes them highly tactile, recalling the textures of sandstone cliffs or ancient artifacts.
Born in the UK and raised in South Africa, Melbourne-based Vogelpoel has worked with clay for over 20 years, honing her skills under South African ceramicist artists Barbara Jackson and Karen Scott. Her work has been shortlisted for the Victorian
Crafts Awards (2019) and The Design Files + Laminex Awards (2021) with her works now widely collected in Australia and internationally.
