Vintage Turkish Kilim rug made in the Central Anatolia Black Sea region of Turkey.
Features vintage hemp in beautiful kohl/black hue and random embroidered detail, giving a wonderful texture to the rug.
Turkish villagers produced hemp stalk until the 1960's when its production was prohibited. Because of prohibition, hemp fibre and hemp rugs became incredibly rare, and today it can be difficult to find original hemp Kilim rugs.
Organic, handspun, handwoven, and handmade out of natural fibre, and the durability and thermostatic property of hemp means it acts as a natural thermostat in both summer and winter.
