Tigmi Trading Opens In Byron
We have opened the doors to our Byron Bay store - right in the heart of town, near some of our favourite haunts and a stones throw from the beach (we swear we can even hear the ocean!). We were lucky enough to be invited to join the beautiful space at Tamar Gallery run by Byron Bay local creative artist Jai Vasicek.
The space was already a wonderful blank canvas, with cement floors, rendered white walls and arch details, and ample light pouring in from the generous windows. Our aim was to create an environment that was as unique as the one-of-a-kind pieces that it was housing and that reinforced our ethos of embracing the variations of the handmade. All within a three week timeframe! So armed with a mood board of what we wanted to achieve, we set about bringing in some experts to give us the unique look and feel we were after.
Here’s a sneak peak of how it all came together
In order to create beautiful and unique displays that fulfilled our brief of the ‘perfect imperfections of the handmade, we called upon master stonemason/ artist Steve Clarke from Den-holm to create some beautiful sculptural display pieces out of a bespoke limestone/ marble terrazzo. We also had our friends and fellow Newrybar Merchants, Nikau, put together some of their beautiful sculptural floral displays and provided us with some spiky friends, and worked with local legend, Terry, to custom make us some lovely brass racks to house our one of a kind rugs.
Next was to bring in the product right at the end! We unveiled some of our newest pieces - bread boards with brass handles, pinch pots, sunglasses by Illesteva, beach bags and beautiful fine jewellery handmade by Stephanie Jewels as well as hats, mirrors and our amazing Beldi glassware and Tamegroute pottery.
Tigmi Trading Byron Bay lends itself to the traveller within us – we wanted to create a space that took you on a journey of discovery and that transported us to faraway lands, but also had its feet firmly planted by the beach! We have selected a collection of pieces that are unique and that are inspired by escape! I am excited by this space – it’s a beautiful canvas that will continually evolve to accommodate our new collections.
We look forward to having you visit! Find us at Tamar Gallery - 1/1 Marvel St, Byron Bay, NSW 2481.
